Live Mesh for Mac Updated

The Live Mesh team announced on their blog that next update for Live Mesh for Mac is now available. They have also updated the Live Desktop. This release contains numerous bug fixes, as well as a few new features. There’s no word on when an update for Windows mobile will be available.

Features

  • New Media Viewer on the Live Desktop.
  • Live Mesh News will now display the date (as well as time) for all news items, even older ones.

Fixes

  • Improved the Live Desktop quota calculation.
  • Optimized MOE CPU/memory use.
  • Fixed Mac client startup errors that caused client to shut down shortly after launching.
  • Mac passwords containing extended characters now work properly.
  • Device status (online/offline) now properly displayed on the Live Desktop, in the notifier, and in the Mesh bar.
  • News now correctly displays the year.

Cloud Coffee Maker - I’m not kidding

I have to say something about this. What is the thing bellow?

“A Windows-enabled and Web-connected coffee maker like this prototype could check online for the proper grinding size of the beans you’ve just bought.”

Among the technologies Microsoft is highlighting CES this year is a hardware and software platform for the next generation of more useful and flexible household objects, appliances and accessories. The Windows-based platform is the result of a collaboration between Microsoft and a recently formed company called Fugoo. “Imagine having your alarm clock not only wake you up but also remind you what your first appointment of the day is and calculate how long it will take you to drive to work based on current traffic conditions.” said Steve Guggenheimer, corporate vice president of the Original Equipment Manufacturer Division at Microsoft.

Also, in their “reinventing the home” press release Microsoft mentions: “How about a refrigerator that can generate a weekly shopping list based on staples that have been used up, and then place a delivery order at a local supermarket’s Web site? “. Porsche, Live Mesh and Windows Azure 3

Using Azure Services Platform, a Microsoft “motoring guy” links his Porsche to GPS, music, Internet and more. MeshMobile is the result of Ori Amiga’s work, principal group program manager of Microsoft’s Live Mesh, which allows you to synchronize all of a person’s information—photos, music, documents, and more – among PCs, notebooks, and soon, mobile phones. 

With the Live Services and Live Mesh components of the Azure Services Platform, software developers now have a tool to find new and useful ways to link people, data, and digital gadgets. Or, in this case, a very analog Porsche. Continue reading…
